Extension Policy
First Extension
Residents may request an extension of their stay, up to 90 days.
The criteria for extensions begins low, and increases with cumulative stay.
The primary requirement for your first extension is that you are a good fit with our community and not disruptive.
Further Extensions
The primary requirement for your second extension is that you have been productively engaged here, with a secondary consideration that it is a significant improvement vs the likely counterfactual.
The primary requirement for your third extension is that you are planning your next steps, or already executing on such a plan. For many grantees this will look like applying for jobs, grants, fellowships etc.
Exceptions to the policy are possible , subject to discussion by managers, trustees and advisors.
Maximum Stay Length
Through successive extensions, grantees may stay at CEEALAR up to 1 year, although this is a soft cap rather than an absolute limit.
Exceptions to the policy are possible , subject to discussion by managers, trustees and advisors.
Returning Alumni
CEEALAR acts as an incubator, where grantees can develop skills and cultivate their project(s) before going out in the world.
As comfy a nest as it may be, grantees would do better to think of CEEALAR as a stepping stone towards greater things.
People who have already received a grant can only apply for another one if it wouldn't result in them having spent more time as grantees than not in the last 2 years.
e.g. One who has been a grantee for 1 year will need to wait for another year before they can re-apply.
Exceptions to the policy are possible , subject to discussion by managers, trustees and advisors.
